On her first solo release, she shines across a range of styles centered around the legendary Linn LM-1 drum machine, whose unmistakable sound left a defining mark on 1980s synth and pop music. As producer, Vik is joined by Jimmy Douglass, who is undoubtedly the right person to transform the sonic sources of the past into a contemporary soundscape. With a background at Atlantic Records in the 1970s, he has worked with everyone from Aretha Franklin to AC/DC, as well as more recent artists such as Snoop Dogg, Björk, and Justin Timberlake. Maya Vik captures the essence of pop history in her own unique way with Château Faux-Coupé — a release that is also part of a larger project including both a photography exhibition and an art book.
